Good Lovelies - Oh My!
Been meaning
to update the site with action and pix from the South Country Fair in Fort
Macleod, AB last weekend. I had an amazing time out west with the
Szabo band. Played an awesome set in one of the best time slots of
the weekend - Saturday night at 10pm. Can't get any better than
that. It was super fun, felt great, and the crowd was really
into it. Rob sold a ton of CD's too, which is so great for him.
Niice.
Met some cool new people, and saw some really great music over the course
of the weekend. Elliott Brood, Oh Susanna, Luke Doucet, Melissa
McLelland...lots of the Six Shooter (one of my fave indie record labels)
gang were representin'. It was super hot, so I drank a lot of
tallboy beers in the sun (see above). Good times. We had some
beautiful moments on the road, driving under the bluest skies, bails of
hay on massive fields all illuminated in the warmest golden light you can
imagine. All the while, Neil Young provided us with the perfect
soundtrack. Amazing.
It was a whirlwind of a weekend, though. Between the flights and
time change, to loads of beers, to a red-eye flight home....it took a
couple of days to get back to normal. There's lots of photos kicking

Howdy Gang,
how goes it!?? Funny thing. I've been spending a ton of time
lately working on the brand spanking new website (coming soon!) and
I completely forgot about this one!! I'd do all this work updating,
tweaking, testing, changing, scrapping, and then be like "wow I sure
did a lot of work on my website!" Back here in the "real
world", it looks like nothing is happening or has happened in
eons. It's a
ghost town!
In the meantime, if you see anything that doesn't load
or looks weird, don't worry about it. That's just me, SC, plugging away in
the background. Especially don't worry about it if some nekkid
lady-on-lady pix pop up in this window instead either. Hehehe,
whoops. That's for another project.
So I had this whole crazy Flash/interactive site planned out and cooked
up, but it occurred to me no one actually cares about that stuff.
Least of all me - the guy who's gotta build and manage the dang ol' thing.
Functionality and legibility are all that's important.
If I could kick one nerd square in the noots for every jumbled, messy
Flash site I've tried to navigate...well, I'd have to quit my job in order
to fit in all that nut kickin'. Then you know how it'd go with
legions of bed-ridden nerds: Star Wars action figure sales plummet,
bizarre George Lucas autoerotic Asphyxiophelia hanging incident follows
suit. Literally. He'd be found in Princess Leia's gold bikini
while a lone record player warbles out INXS's "Devil Inside".
I know! What the hell was that about?
A sane SC news item:
I'm headed out west to Fort Macleod, AB this weekend to play the South
Country Fair with the
Rob Szabo band. Pretty stoked about it, should
be a really good time. Maybe I can entertain the band on the plane
with awesome true Hollywood stories like that George Lucas tale I wove up
there! Yes!
Seriously, lots of goodness on the horizon. Stay tuned!
