Holy wah, am I ever giddy like a friggin' school kid today.  Other than three cups of strong coffee, I'm not sure what's gotten into me.  OK, so that's probably it.  Case closed!  My peoples, I don't think I have it in me to write full, concentrated sentences today...so I'm not even gonna bother.  I'm just gonna let 'er dangle.  Beware, I'm fulla P & V...the only thing I can concentrate on is phonetics....beeyatch!

I just ate one of those pre-packaged Starbucks' high falootin' faux-fancy sammiches (hey, I was there for coffee refill #3) for lunch.  If you eat that sunnuvabitch cold right there, you may as well be tossing 7-11 nastiness into yer gate.  So I brought it back to the studio, popped it into the toaster oven and went all Quiznos toasty style with it.  Gat dam, it was good!!  My pants are happy.  Who doesn't like a hot lunch?  Heheh.  It's fun to say "hot lunch".  Especially when describing the opposite sex.  "Oh yeah, that one in the tube top is a real hot lunch."

I dig checkin' out little kids winter gear.  Pink snowsuits with giraffes all over 'em.  Awesome!  I want giraffes on my snowsuit.  It's bullshit that "society" would look down on me for wearing such a thing.  Give me a monkey toque while you're at it.  Gat dammit, at least put some robots on my boots or something.

I finished mixing the Sheltered In Sound record last night.  It turned out quite stellar, if I do say so myself.   Well I do say so 'cos I'm really proud of it.  It goes to mastering this Sunday, and should be released first thing in the new year.  I'll keep you posted about that, 'cos I bet you would like it.  A lot.  You and I...we have similar tastes.  I love that about us.  You and me.  We're like this:  X <---- this one is me.   Gonna snarf down on some free time away from the studio for the next week.  Drink me some Maker's Mark real slow and low.  Indeed.

Hey, check out these rad (and real) band names...these are my absolute faves from The Onion's "The Worst Band Names of '07":

The Dead Kenny G's
Dance Me Pregnant
Dyslexic Speedreaders
Slut Barf
Those Fucking Unicorns
Ballcock Assembly
House That Gloria Vanderbuilt
Neil Diamond Phillips

I'm gonna try out an experiment and start writing nasty things about the people I know on here.  Then we'll see whose "too cool" to read my blog.  Oh, you seem mad at me for some reason.  I can't imagine why.  What gives Bill, you lurkin' jackass?

It's been a few years since I've been really able to get into the Holiday Spirit ™.  However, this year it has not been a problem.  I feel fantastically festive, and I owe it all to my beautiful friends in The Good Lovelies.  They were kind enough to invite me to sing with them on their one-year anniversary holiday tour in a "Merry Men's Chorus" (the Merry remainder being rounded out by two damn fine singer men /friends in Rob Szabo, and Peter Katz).  Us three fellers provided some choir-y goodness to a few Xmas standards the Lovelies had planned to rock for the shows.  If you need some help with the math, we're talking 6-part harmonies, folks.

To help get your own Holiday Spirit going, I highly suggest you watch this YouTube video of us all singing "Oh, Holy Night" with The Lovelies' Caroline Brooks on lead vocals.  Goosebumps guaranteed.  (If you didn't connect the dots already, Caroline is the staggeringly beautiful voice you hear all over my record.)

GOOD LOVELIES & THE MERRY MEN'S CHORUS:  OH, HOLY NIGHT LIVE @ SUPERMARKET (YOUTUBE VIDEO)

The three of us Merry Men also opened the Lovelies' hometown show in Port Hope, ON with a mini-tour through some of our own songs.  The people there were super nice and couldn't be a more generous crowd to play for.  Thank you!  Pin-drop silence and wonderful acoustics led to the rare but best thing ever: off-mic singing.  Rob, Peter, and I chimed in on each other's songs here and there...which is always fun.  It was so great to be on stage and watch people's faces react to Peter and Rob as they played their tunes.  Peter plays this one emotionally raw tune called "Forgiveness" and I sat there watching people swallow gigantic lumps in their throat, and weep as he laid it all on the table.  Powerful stuff.  (When you have some time, go listen to the tune, watch the video, and read about Peter's compelling and ongoing "Forgiveness" story RIGHT HERE.  Unbelievable.)

So the last few days have been an absolute blast, not to mention musically fulfilling!  It was a gift to me - to spend time and sing with such a group of insanely talented people, each uniquely voiced and armed with piles and piles of great songs.  I feel really fortunate to call these ultrafine folks my friends, and wanted to send massive amounts of love and thanks to all of them for making me feel so goddam good the past few days.  Truly, one of this year's many musical and personal highlights.

This warmth I'm feeling now will carry me through the winter better than any old fireplace ever could.

I really like to make lists.  I like to read other people's lists.  I like to think about making lists I mean.  I have this book called Rolling Stone: Raves which is basically a compilation of all the "favourite things" (from music, movies, places, food, and more) that famous musicians have talked about in their interviews from 1969.  It's awesome.  Neil Young gets all excited about some rap song by Heavy D.  Bob Dylan talks about a fixation he had with Smashing Pumpkins.  Billy Gibbons from ZZ Top absolutely fell in love with a G. Love & The Special Sauce tune and chased them around for years to try and get them to let him play on a record.  That's hilarious to me.  Jeff Buckey's absolute favourite food is hot dogs.  "In New York, you can get a hot dog for a dollar - it's like eating the entire city for a buck!"

I'm going to make my own list this year and post it in time for New Years.  You may discover some things you didn't know about me...like my friend The Great Gazoo who sits on my shoulder and gives me advice and calls me a "dum-dum" whenever possible.

2007 List Coming Soon!
